The Modern Library (Random House) Edition

What a true first shows: This is a Modern Library reprint anthology, not a first edition of the poems (which long predate it). A 'first' here means the earliest Modern Library printing, dated not by any statement on the copyright page but by cross-referencing the spine torchbearer logo, endpaper design, and dust-jacket title list against Toledano's Modern Library guide. The three-name imprint (Cerf, Klopfer, Haas) places manufacture roughly c.1936-1956, but the specific printing cannot be fixed from these photos.
